Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
weekend reading— the marriage plot by jeffrey eugenides
“there are some books that reached through the noise of life to grab you by the collar and speak only the truest of things.”
sadly, i don’t think that the marriage plot is one of those books. there’s nothing entirely problematic with the book itself— i loved all of it— but it suffers because of constant comparison to middlesex. it’s not moving in the way that that middlesex was for me, but there’s still something irresistible about how relatable, yet insightful and innovative, eugenides writing is.
